MEAN CREEK ANNOUNCES SPRING TOUR WITH COUNTING CROWS
NEW FULL-LENGTH ALBUM, YOUTH COMPANION, OUT THIS FALL
DOWNLOAD: “SUNLIGHT” (MP3)
Boston-based rock band Mean Creek is excited to announce its upcoming Spring tour of the United States supporting Counting Crows. Beginning on Friday, April 13 at the Showbox in Seattle, WA, the tour will take in nights at notable venues across the country such as Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA, on Tuesday, April 17, Roseland Ballroom in New York, NY, on Tuesday, April 24 and the Borgata Event Center in Atlantic City, NJ, on Saturday, April 28.
Recently named “Best Boston Band” by the readers of The Boston Phoenix for the second straight year in a row and taking home the coveted “Album/EP of the Year” for their John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile)-produced Hemophiliac EP at the 2011 Boston Music Awards, Mean Creek have also had their song, “Sunlight,” added to rotation by WFNX.
Recorded at 1867 Recording Studio by Chris McLaughlin, producer of the band’s critically acclaimed debut album The Sky (or the Underground), the band’s upcoming LP, Youth Companion, is slated for release in the Fall of 2012. Building its name and acquiring a presence that has led to the band becoming a household name in their native Boston, the four members of Mean Creek delved into their newest musical project with the assurance and conviction that comes from knowing their legitimate place in the world and have their sights set on impacting the nation as they have in their hometown.
“Boston rockers Mean Creek pack thundering drums, huge guitars, and soaring melodies into one sweet package.” – NYLON Magazine
“Mean Creek is not merely a great Boston Band; they’re a really great band period. Everyone outside the 617 should be warned Boston has birthed its next prodigious band. Be prepared.” – Paste Magazine
“Boston, Mass. has home to some of rock’s most iconic and influential bands, but it’s been a while since the historic city has seen an indie group like Mean Creek. Alternating boy-girl vocalists Chris Keene and Aurore Ounjian conjure a Pixies-like dual frontperson mystique and they rock equally as hard as their Beantown alma mater.” – Aol. Music
