Michigan born, LA transplant, Absofacto has released his debut EP, “Thousand Peaces,” today. The EP includes “Light Outside,” which racked up 3.6 million Spotify streams in under six months. Other highlights include “Two Wrongs,” featuring dancehall maverick Kranium, an emotional track with island-inspired swagger and “Done With Love” an angelic duet with songstress Herizen. The latter is accompanied by a gorgeous new music video out everywhere today, directed by Michael Burke and Absofacto. Watch here.
During late 2015, Absofacto released “Dissolve,” a stand-out track featured on Thousand Peaces, which went to #1 on Hype Machine, and generated over 6 million Spotify streams, 1.2 million YouTube views, and countless “fan edit” videos. The official music video for “Dissolve” is in post-production and will see its release later this month.
On the inspiration for the EP’s name, Absofacto notes, “The EP name evokes a thousand-piece puzzle. The world is so insane right now, with so many forces clashing. But there’s not one simple answer that can make everything better. Each smaller conflict between people that can be resolved peacefully rather than creating more tension is a step towards peace everywhere. I picture it in my mind as atoms forming planets, planets forming galaxies, and galaxies forming the universe. Every big thing being made up of smaller parts.”

Done With Love ft. Herizen
Singer-songwriter and producer Absofacto (Jonathan Visger) has released the brand new music video “Dissolve” from his debut EP, Thousand Peaces, with Atlantic Records. Self-directed by Visger with the help of Matt Day, and executive produced by Day and Ben Fee, the video follows American actor Alex Knight through an underwater explosion of color with the professional synchronized swimming collective called The Aqualillies.

“Dissolve” came out of a flash of inspiration that immediately felt special, so it was only natural that the video should be conceived the same way,” says Visger. “I wrote the treatment in 10 minutes, then spent 6 months planning, directing, editing the video with my co-director Matt Day. The song found new layers and meaning for me as I brought the vision to life: A lifeguard, played by my friend Alex Knight (Breaking Bad, Last Week Tonight), trapped with his own thoughts and emotions while working the night shift at an empty pool.”
During late 2015, Absofacto released “Dissolve,” a stand-out track featured on Thousand Peaces, which went to #1 on Hype Machine, generated over 7 million Spotify streams, 1.5 million YouTube views and countless “fan edit” videos. The EP includes “Light Outside,” which racked up 3.6 million Spotify streams in under six months and just recently broke 4 million. Other highlights include “Two Wrongs,” featuring dancehall maverick Kranium, an emotional track with island-inspired swagger and “Done With Love,” an angelic duet with songstress Herizen.

Absofacto is the solo project of songwriter/producer Jonathan Visger. Through a handful of unique projects, Visger became a fixture of Michigan’s indie rock scene and in 2008 began recording his solo work under the Absofacto moniker, self-releasing singles and EPs via Bandcamp and on his own website. Fusing intelligent, often surrealist songwriting with a strong emotional core, he created a stylistically fluid sound that pulled from bedroom pop, art rock, and electronic music. In 2011, his catalog of early singles were compiled into an elaborate full-length release titled Sinking Islands. Subsequent releases included 2013’s [Loners] EP as well as a series of stand-alone singles including “History Books” and “Dissolve,” the latter of which went viral, topping the Hype Machine charts in 2015 and garnering millions of Spotify streams. In early 2017, Absofacto was featured on the song “Trouble” by New York EDM duo the Knocks. Having relocated to Los Angeles, Visger signed with Atlantic Records, which issued his next two singles, “Light Outside” and “Endless Summer,” later that year.
