Eliot Lipp is a veteran musician and sound designer gearing up to release his 9th studio album, Come To Life. After more than a decade living in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York (but equally home on the road), the intrepid producer returned to his roots in the Pacific Northwest before recording the album, much of which came together over a single inspired weekend.
Returning home provided Lipp with new inspirations for his blend of sampledelic funk and techno inspired hiphop beats. The mossy green woods and snowy mountains of the Pacific Northwest were essential to the ambiance and texture of the sounds. The result is a digital landscape filled with beautiful analog creations.
ELIOT LIPP + BLOCKHEAD ANNOUNCE COLLABORATIVE PROJECT “LIPPHEAD”
RELEASE FIRST SINGLE “SLIPPERY FINGERS“
FORTHCOMING SELF TITLED EP OUT JUNE 21 VIA YOUNG HEAVY SOULS
“The two artists prove to be a perfect match on “Slippery Fingers.” Blockhead brings his sample-based hip-hop sound while Lipp delivers the funky, grooving electronic production we’ve come to love over the years.“
– this song is sick
Lipphead is the new collaborative release from New York producers Blockhead and Eliot Lipp. While the two have toured together in the past, Lipphead marks the debut of their collaborative recordings. Releasing June 21st, 2019 digitally and on 7″ vinyl, the self-titled EP includes two new songs “Slippery Fingers” and “Just To Prove.” Both songs hit the sweet spot between Blockhead’s groovy, sample based hip-hop and Eliot Lipp’s upbeat electronic funk. “Slippery Fingers” premiered exclusively via This Song Is Sick.

Releasing on Detroit-based label YHS Records, Lipphead is the first of many future collaborations between the two producers. The distinctive look of the project’s artwork is provided by Michigan illustrator Maddie Chaffer, who designed the titular Lipphead character.
Tony Simon, a/k/a Blockhead, has been making and releasing utterly distinctive, funky and emotive instrumental hip-hop for the last two decades. Blockhead produced nine tracks on Aesop Rock’s critically acclaimed album “Labor Days,” and half the tracks on Aesop’s follow up EP, “Daylight.” He has also worked with other indie giants such as Atmosphere, Murs, Mike Ladd and Illogic. His 2017 album “Funeral Balloons” “continues Block’s penchant for slinking grooves coupled with esoteric samples and wry song titles” (Vice). In 2017 Blockhead also collaborated with YHS Records for the vinyl reissue of his 2007 album “Uncle Tony’s Coloring Book” and then again in 2018 on the vinyl release of his album “The Art of the Sample.”
Eliot Lipp is an electronic musician based in Brooklyn, NY. Lipp has released music in the past with Pretty Lights Music and his own label Old Tacoma Records. In 2017 Eliot released his 10th studio album “Skywave” on YHS Records. Billboard called the album “a playground of sound.” In 2018 Eliot teamed up with Michna to form the techno/trap group Minutes Unlimited. Currently Eliot Lipp is working on the debut full length release form Minutes Unlimited, as well as a 10th anniversary re-issue of his 2009 album “Peace Love Weed 3D.”

ELIOT LIPP AND MZG RELEASE COLLABORATIVE NEW TRACK “PURE WILDERNESS”
LISTEN TO “PURE WILDERNESS”
“Analog synth stomper“
Today, Eliot Lipp and MZG release their new track “Pure Wilderness.” The song premiered exclusively mxdwn.com.
“Pure Wilderness” began with Lipp and the MZG boys emailing a bassline and some drums back and forth. After it turned into some living, breathing music the three of them teamed up in the Colorado wilderness to add some finishing touches. The track is a perfect blend of MZG’s mid-tempo stomp and Lipp’s crispy funk, dripping with analog synths and atmosphere.
“Producing this track with Eliot was such a good time! “Pure Wilderness” became the embodiment of our surroundings. A great portion of this track was produced at 10,000 feet elevation in the Colorado mountains! We are so pleased to share this with everyone” MZG told mxdwn.
This release follows another collaborative project from Eliot Lipp and Blockhead that was released earlier this year, titled Lipphead.
About Eliot Lipp:
Eliot Lipp is a producer, DJ and sound designer. After more than a decade living in Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco (but equally home on the road), the intrepid producer has landed in beautiful Brooklyn. He’s been spending most of his time collaborating with musicians, DJing, performing and grinding in the studio. There’s no particular style of electronic music that takes the focus but there’s always a good amount of hip-hop and funk influences. Over the years Lipp has developed a palette of electronic beats & soulful samples while crafting a unique style.
Twin brothers, Zach and Charles Weinert, spent many years working on separate musical projects, but in 2014, they relented to the inevitable and joined forces to create MZG. Shorthand for “monozygotic” (the scientific term describing identical twins), the name MZG describes the unique bond that only these two can understand.
After honing their craft together in Jacksonville, FL, the pair began playing out for audiences. Thanks in part to features on Skrillex’s Nest HQ compilations, they quickly became the go-to artists for national acts in need of a guaranteed party starter when touring the southern state. MZG’s reputation for setting dance floors aflame saw them soon sharing the stage with like-minded acts such as GRiZ, Herobust, and Space Jesus, as well as earning a residency at Florida festival mainstay Suwannee Hulaween.
Recently relocated to Colorado, the brothers have wasted no time in making a mark, performing with respected staples EOTO and members of Pretty Lights Live, as well as trendsetter Barclay Crenshaw. The self-taught musicians and producers deliver hip-hop influenced future bass while sharing a chemistry on stage that is natural and infectious. From the sandy beaches of Florida to the Mile High City and everywhere in between, MZG delivers a melodic stomp the bass scene has been missing. Expect a lot more to come from this duo as their undeniable energy fuels parties nationwide.
