“When I grew up, there were rules, you know? Rock and roll rules. If you were a punk, you were punk. You didn’t think Iron Maiden was cool, too. And if you were a metal dude, you didn’t like punk rock. But now it’s all one big smorgasbord, which I think is cool.”

The two dig deep into their love of music, the artists who first influenced Chris, from Sam & Dave to REM, and how he finally got into The Grateful Dead. They talk about what he’s listening to now, and reflect on their mutual friend and guitarist for Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Neal Casal.
The episode ends with “Rosalee,” a track from the Chris Robinson Brotherhood’s 2012 album Big Moon Ritual.
Chris Robinson is the singer of The Black Crowes, and is the vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the Chris Robinson Brotherhood (CRB). “You can’t really bet on anything other than your own instinct — otherwise, I mean, you’re a damn fool.”
– Emily King
Two-time GRAMMY® nominee Emily King joins award-winning guitarist/producer Eric Krasno on his special new podcast series. Presented by Osiris Media, ERIC KRASNO PLUS ONE sees the renowned musician hosting a one-of-a-kind interview series exploring the lives and work of some of his closest friends and musical collaborators.
In this episode of Plus One, Eric talks to his friend, singer-songwriter Emily King, who checks in from her family home in lower Manhattan where she’s sheltering in place. Being back home inspires her to tell Eric about growing up in a musical family, going on the road with her jazz singer parents, and why hamburgers and french fries in the dressing room made her want to become a musician. The two talk about mutual friend and producer Jeremy Most, and discuss what it’s like to be nominated for a Grammy. Emily explains why she loves corny music, and how she’s trying to stay positive during the COVID-19 lockdown. The episode ends with “Look At Me Now,” a Grammy-nominated track from Emily’s 2019 album Scenery.
Emily King is from New York City and is the daughter of jazz duo Marion Cowings and Kim Kalesti. She began playing music at 15, and released her first album, the Grammy-nominated East Side Story in 2007. Following that debut, she underwent a period of creative growth that saw her move away from slick R&B toward a more sophisticated indie soul sound, which manifested itself on her self-released sophomore album, 2015’s acclaimed The Switch. Co-produced and written with Most, The Switch cemented her transformation from the slicker mainstream R&B of her debut to the more elegant pop and soul of her later singles. King returned in 2018 with the singles “Remind Me” and “Look at Me,” which led to the release of Scenery early the following year. King and Most recorded the album in a studio they built in the garage of their Catskills home. The track “Look at Me Now” from the album went on to receive a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song.
Additional episodes will follow each and every Monday featuring an array of very special guests, including John Mayer on May 18, and Questlove on June 15. ERIC KRASNO PLUS ONE is available via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and through the official Osiris website.

For nearly two decades, Krasno has been an omnipresent figure in popular music, from his virtuosic, innovative guitar playing with Soulive and Lettuce (both of which he co-founded) to his GRAMMY® Award-winning work as a producer and songwriter for artists like Norah Jones, Tedeschi Trucks, 50 Cent, Talib Kweli, Aaron Neville, and Allen Stone, to name but a few. As if that weren’t enough, the New York-based artist has proven an invaluable session player and touring musician alongside the likes of the Rolling Stones, Dave Mathews Band, John Mayer, Oteil & Friends, and The Roots.
Along with their work together on stage and in the studio, Krasno has spent countless hours sharing stories with these incredible artists and these intimate moments have become some of his most cherished memories. ERIC KRASNO PLUS ONE now allows fans everywhere to join behind-the-scenes conversations, with topics spanning early inspirations to discussions about the state of the music industry, the challenges of life on the road, and much more. “When I was 16 I had this epiphany…when I hear bluegrass music it rips my heart apart. It can make me cry, it can make me laugh out loud.”
– Billy Strings
Billy Strings joins award-winning guitarist/producer Eric Krasno on his special new podcast series. Presented by Osiris Media, ERIC KRASNO PLUS ONE sees the renowned musician hosting a one-of-a-kind interview series exploring the lives and work of some of his closest friends and musical collaborators.
In Episode 15 Eric talks to bluegrass sensation Billy Strings, whose hard-playing style and high-energy live shows are introducing bluegrass to all types of new fans. The two first met at the RoosterWalk Festival in 2017 when a storm prevented Eric’s band from showing up and Billy’s band sat in at the last minute. They’ve been friends ever since, and in those years Billy Strings has gone from releasing his first EP to selling out theaters across the country.
Billy tells Eric about being a young kid and playing music with his father, the gifted picker Terry Barber, as the genesis of his lifelong passion, and what it was like to perform at The Ryman Auditorium with his dad and Del McCoury. They discuss the bluegrass revival of the last decade, Billy’s heavy metal roots, the electric guitar Billy’s grandpa made in jail in 1961 that Billy still performs with, and a lot more.
Check out Billy Strings “Streaming Strings Tour”, which features nine nights of concerts live streamed from five different iconic venues around Nashville, July 16-26th.
Upcoming episodes of Plus One include Phil Lesh, Allen Stone, Don Was, and more.

“The one thing about corporate religion I wish they’d incorporate is: ‘we don’t know!’ I would be so quick to go to a church if a pastor was like,
man, I’ve got no idea what happens after death.”
– Allen Stone
Allen Stone joins award-winning guitarist/producer Eric Krasno on his special new podcast series. Presented by Osiris Media, ERIC KRASNO PLUS ONE sees the renowned musician hosting a one-of-a-kind interview series exploring the lives and work of some of his closest friends and musical collaborators.
In Episode 17 of Plus One, Krasno talks with soul singer and bandleader Allen Stone. The son of a preacher, Stone describes how singing in church from the age of three built his musical chops for years before he was exposed to secular music. Once he heard Stevie Wonder’s InnerVisions as a teenager, Stone had found the sound he wanted to emulate. Echoes of Wonder’s and other R&B legends can be heard in each of Stone’s four records.
Krasno and Stone also discuss fatherhood, the lifelong search for contentment with the touring life, and what they tell up-and-coming artists when they’re asked for advice.
