Australian born, Los Angeles based artist Mereki makes spiritual pop music.
After moving from the sleepy coastal town of Noosa to Sweden, then London, Melbourne and New York, Mereki found her voice and inspiration whilst sleeping on a single mattress on the floor of a shared bedroom in Echo Park, California.
The vibrant singer immediately attracted a community of friends who became an integral part of her music career, including future co-writers, producers & collaborators. Her talent was spotted by L.A.’s Grammy-nominated superstar producer Ariel Rechtshaid (HAIM, Vampire Weekend, Madonna, Usher & Major Lazer) who signed her and asked if Kylie Minogue could release one of her songs. Thus introducing her to LA’s pop songwriting academy. Since then Mereki has written with and for Phantogram, Kitten, A-Trak and Suki Waterhouse, to name but a few, as well as being the featured vocalist and co-writer on tracks with Dhani Harrison, Goldroom, Basenji, HOLYCHILD, and more.
Not long after, she was approached to tour as the front woman for electro pop outfit Goldroom and performed everywhere from Middle America to Medillin, Colombia. Amidst all of this she released her debut solo single ‘Blue Lake’ to critical acclaim from the likes of Spin, Nylon & Flood Magazine. After enduring some tragedy and heartbreak, she segued briefly into the catharsis of high-energy punk rock, releasing a few singles that landed in a Victoria’s Secrets commercial. She also created ‘Be Kind’ (formally known as ‘Mereki’s Clubhouse’), a pop up event platform with a focus on kindness and creating spaces to give a voice to up-and-coming female artists. The motto ‘Be Kind’ is at the backbone of everything Mereki aims to be and be around.
Now, in 2017, Mereki’s new music has returned to the essence of who she truly is. Whilst having a distinctly pop-feel with positive messaging, new tracks like “French Kissing” and “Got It All” also purvey an ethereal quality that gives listeners the chance to interpret the music in their own way. Mereki has a sweet, imperfect and unique sound and a strong vision to spread kindness.

“A tight piece of electronic pop perfection, replete with an anthemic chorus and bubbling synth verses.” – MXDWN
LOS ANGELES, CA, JUNE 15, 2018 – Australian born, Los Angeles based artist Mereki has shared a stellar new music video for “Got It All”; a track from her most recent EP release Beach
In “Got It All”, Mereki takes the high road to daily trials and comparisons with a ‘mind-over-matter’ attitude in her resounding lyrics “I don’t need anything more. I know that I really got it all.” The video was crafted by up-and-coming filmmaker Dakota Light-Smith and features Mereki front-and-center amongst a purple hued art installation that reacts and flows to her presence like somewhat of a dreamscape throughout the song.
“I became obsessed with the color Lilac & asked Dakota Light-Smith (Artist/Design/Filmmaker/Genius) if she could build me a lilac room to dance around in,” said Mereki. “She did, as in, properly built it with her bare hands, painted it lilac and then covered the floor with water for me to play in. She then made an entire room full of lilac confetti & a mirror room for me to dance around in too. We buried me in the confetti at one point and I had just gotten back from Antarctica the day before and I remember thinking ‘yup, Got It All’. This song is about feeling shitty and reminding yourself, by finding deep gratitude for everything that you HAVE instead of focusing on what you don’t, that you really do have it all. Hope you like it as much as I do.”
Mereki, former front woman for Goldroom, has written songs for Kylie Minogue, A-Trak, Phantogram, Suki Waterhouse, among others, and has worked with Grammy-nominated superstar producer Ariel Rechtshaid (HAIM, Vampire Weekend, Madonna, Usher & Major Lazer). She’s also been afeatured vocalist and co-writer on tracks with Dhani Harrison, Basenji, Dcup, HOLYCHILD, and more. Beach was released on Harrison’s label H.O.T. and mixed by multi-Grammy winner Paul Hicks (The Beatles, David Bowie, Depeche Mode).
Aside from music, Mereki spends a great deal of time buzzing around LA for her “Be Kind” platform which curates pop-ups that focus on kindness and creating spaces that give a voice to up-and-coming female artists. The ‘Be Kind’ motto is at the backbone of everything Mereki aims to be and be around.
