  NY-based quartet People Get Ready have signed to Quite Scientific Records for the release of their self-titled debut EP out on November 8th. People Get Ready is a group of creatives that bridge dreamy indie-pop with contemporary dance and live performance art. The band will perform with label mates Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. in New York this Saturday, 9/24 at Bowery Ballroom.

  Steven Reker (who recently choreographed the t-shirt scene in filmmaker Miranda July’s movie The Future), founded the band with Luke Fasano (formerly of Yeasayer and Ex-Models) after frequent encounters at live music shows that incorporated dance. Their first performances took place at New York’s experimental performance space, The Kitchen as part of it’s series ‘Dance and Process.’ Reker choreographed pieces for these sets while on a year long world tour as a dancer and guitarist to David Byrne. That experience, alongside his work with choreographer Yasuko Yokoshi shaped his initial desire to create performance work within the context of a band. Adding Jen Goma (A Sunny Day In Glasgow) and James Rickman (Slow Gherkin) to the mix, the group started working collaboratively with dancers – reshaping their live show.

  People Get Ready’s varied performances are currently being scheduled in theaters and art centers around North America. The band will also perform in traditional music venues this fall, winter and spring, and expect to release an LP of brand new material in 2012.
