NEW AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER TOUR DATES
Crooked Creek Records and The Giving Tree Band are proud to announce the October 2nd release of Vacilador, the Chicago area seven-piece’s fourth full-length studio album. It has been a busy spring and summer for the boys as they found themselves criss-crossing the country to play many a folk and rock festival, and toured extensively in June and July with Joe Purdy. They also won the attention of the Grateful Dead’s management, as well as Dead fans across the country with their cover of “Brown Eyed Woman.” Their performance video for the cover was impressive enough to lead The Dead’s management to play it before an April 19th mass screening of the ’89 Grateful Dead concert at Alpine Valley at over 550 movie theatres nation wide. The Giving Tree Band will tour throughout the rest of August and September in the lead up to the album’s release, with more dates later this fall TBA. (Upcoming tour dates below)

With the release of Vacilador, The Giving Tree Band hope to build upon the success and high praise heaped upon their most recent album The Joke The Threat & The Obvious. The band were featured in Relix as an “On The Verge” artist for their “folksy bliss,” while Acoustic Guitar described their sound as covering a “wide swath of the classic rock pantheon—such as Neil Young, Bob Dylan, the Band, the Grateful Dead, and the Beatles—but with a fuller sound featuring quasi-orchestral instrumentation and barbershop harmonies.” During an appearance on the nationally broadcast PBS show “Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour” the band were honored when host Michael Jonahtan introduced them as embodying “the spirit of Pete Seeger with the musical abilities of The Band and the audaciousness of The Avett Brothers.” The band was incredibly humbled to draw such comparisons, and they have only furthered their commitment to the advancement of their songwriting craft on Vacilador.
Apart from their sound, The Giving Tree Band also turns heads with their unique approach to rock and roll – one that is healthy and earth conscious. All the members of the GTB have embraced a vegan lifestyle, and the band is also widely considered to be one of the “greenest” bands around, and are known for extraordinary environmental stewardship which includes custom instruments made from naturally fallen trees and reclaimed woods, biodiesel tours, affinity for biking and camping, 100% recycled packaging of all CD’s, carbon neutral album production, and donating as much as 50% of sales to eco-friendly charities.
Stay tuned for more tour dates and news to be announced in the coming weeks
