Raised on an island in South Carolina, singer/songwriter Trevor Hall realized at a young age that music was more than just a passion – it was, rather, his life’s art. At sixteen, he recorded his first album, soon after which he left South Carolina for Idyllwild Arts Academy in California where he studied classical guitar and was introduced to the practices of yoga and meditation, which would greatly influence his life and his music.
Hall’s music – a blend of roots and folk music is imbued with a deep love of Eastern Mysticism. This powerful symbiosis fostered a deep connectivity with his growing fan base and Hall quickly matured into a leader of the burgeoning conscious musical community.
Along with numerous pilgrimages to India, he has also completed a series of sold-out tours and collaborations with artists such as Steel Pulse, Ziggy Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Michael Franti, Xavier Rudd, John Butler Trio, Matisyahu and Nahko & Medicine for the People.
THE FRUITFUL DARKNESS was Trevor’s first independent release — supported by his fans known as THE VILLAGERS — became the #1 Music campaign of its kind in 2017 — after a decade-plus recording for established labels such as Geffen and Vanguard. Besides the change in infrastructure, the album itself explores completely new sonic terrain and was released unconventionally, in 3-5 song installments on specific lunar dates. THE FRUITFUL DARKNESS Full-Length Album officially released on June 1st, 2018 and premiered at #4 on the iTunes Alternative Charts.
His previous full-length album releases, Chapter of the Forest (2014) and KALA (2015), debuted at #3 and #2 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart respectively and were supported by extensive tours around the US and Australia. Beyond his intention to spread love and healing through music, Hall also collects donations to support children’s education in India and has continuously donated to charities and relief funds.
TREVOR HALL RELEASES NEW SONG “MY OWN”
A JOURNEY TO MAKE YOUR BELOVED YOURS
NEW ALBUM DUE OUT LATER THIS YEAR
PRODUCED BY BRAD COOK (BON IVER, HISS GOLDEN MESSENGER)
PURCHASE/STREAM “MY OWN”
“When you listen to this song, take the time to really hear the words. Allow the lyrics to speak to you and help you go forward in the journey of life on your own.”
– American Songwriter
Today, Trevor Hall has released a brand new song titled “My Own.” This song follows the release of “Put Down What You Are Carrying (with Brett Dennon)” earlier this year. American Songwriter exclusively premiered “My Own” on Thursday, July 2.
Hall spoke to American Songwriter saying, “The song “My Own” is a song that was written a few years back. It is one of the songs that I kept to myself for a while before releasing it out into the cosmos. It was written about the power of longing and that to long for the Beloved and to make that one your very own, whomever or whatever that one may be, is so special and so intimate. Even though we may be upset at the pain of separation … that pain of separation is actually a blessing to fuel one’s desire to be united with one’s true love.”
Hall will release a new, full-length studio album later this year. The forthcoming record, produced by Brad Cook (Bon Iver, the War on Drugs, Hiss Golden Messenger) sees Hall taking extravagant chances with his music while staying true to his core values.

Trevor Hall has released “Fire On Your House,” his newest single which premiered exclusively via ThisSongIsSick earlier this week. The new track sees Hall, a well-natured, do no harm kind of guy releasing his most aggressive song to date. Yet, he is still able to remain balanced and true to himself through his eloquent songwriting.
“Fire On Your House” follows the release of “My Own,” which was exclusively premiered by American Songwriter, and “Put Down What You Are Carrying (with Brett Dennen).”
The story behind “Fire On Your House” as told by Trevor Hall:
I once heard a story about a venomous snake. It lived in a field and all the villagers never dared to play there due to the presence of the snake. One day a monk was crossing the field and met the snake on his way. He gave the snake a magical mantra and told him not to harm anyone. After some time, the snake’s nature began to change. Due to the effect of repeating his mantra, he became calm and peaceful and stopped harming the local villagers. After some time, some kids began to play in the field and mess with the snake by throwing stones at it and hitting it with sticks. Because the monk told the snake not to harm anyone, he didn’t defend himself in any way and became badly beaten. After a year or so, the monk returned to the village and went out to the field to see the snake. The people of the village told the monk that the snake was dead. However, the monk didn’t believe them knowing that he gave the snake a magical mantra that wouldn’t allow him to be killed. Upon entering the field, the snake came out of his hole to greet the monk. He was all skin and bones. the monk asked the snake, “what has happened to you?!” the snake replied that he had been badly beaten by the villagers since the monk has been gone. When asked why he didn’t defend himself, the snake said, “you told me not to bite anyone.” the monk replied, “I told you not to bite! But I didn’t tell you not to hiss!”
This is my hissing song.

About IN AND THROUGH THE BODY – Words by Trevor Hall:
For as long as I can remember, my music has been mostly seated in the abstract – woven deeply with the dream-like, esoteric ideals and philosophies that I have spent much of my life studying. Rather than focusing on my own human experience, I’ve always tended to point my music outwards, painting sonic landscapes of inner spaces that I longed for, or only experienced for fleeting moments. I guess I was carrying some belief deep down that the human experience, and all of its emotions, were less valuable or less worthy than these ideals and philosophies I was studying.
But through the grace of time and growth, that belief has slowly started to change …
I’ve spent a lot of time in recent years reflecting on the teachers and elders that I have had the great privilege to meet in my life. One of the striking common threads that has woven these beings together for me is not the greatness of their teachings, but rather their incredible HUMANNESS. Some of the most divine teachers in my life are so beautifully, wildly …. human.
Noticing this made me pay more attention to my own humanness – all of the facets and sides and colors that come along with it – and, as a result, I began to express that journey of discovery and uncovering in my writing and my music. To my surprise, I’ve begun to find a sense of home in a place I never thought I’d find it – within my own body.
While discussing this with some of my teachers and elders, one of them mentioned, “our path is in and through the body.”
These songs and this album I feel are different from any other creation that has come through me. They have come from in and through my body. They are a result of turning the mirror inward and bearing witness to my humanity.
The line between the human and the divine has started to fade. They have become not even a breath apart from each other. Instead, they have become inseparable. To witness that oneness, to let go of the illusion of separation has been incredibly healing for me.

IN AND THROUGH THE BODY, Hall’s latest record, presents his most mature sound yet, touching on the timeless human themes of love, struggle, growth, and redemption. Hall uses a palette of genres that span from folk, roots-rock, and electronic, all with a consistent wash of authentic far-Eastern influence.
The album was produced by Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Hiss Golden Messenger), with instrumental accompaniment from Phil Cook (Megafaun) and Matthew McCaughan (Bon Iver), as well as vocal accompaniment from Hall’s wife, Emory Hall. The album was recorded in Durham, North Carolina.
