BIOGRAPHY

Although she was raised in New York City, it feels as if Katie Schecter time traveled here from a chicer, more sonically cool yesteryear of the future. Now based in Nashville, she effortlessly blends the half-cool, half-kitsch of Music City that is neither new, nor timeless; she herself is it all.

Schecter's journey as a solo artist began with a self-titled EP in 2017, followed by her second full-length release Bad For Business in 2020, solidifying her place on the map as a boundary-pushing musician. Along with her creative soulmate Nick Bockrath, Schecter joined forces with British producer and engineer Ben Baptie to fully capture her idealized sound. Bad For Business features Amy Winehouse’s legendary rhythm section, Homer Steinweiss (Holy Hive, Sharon Jones & The Dap-kings) and Nick Movshon (The Arcs, Menahan Street Band), a heavy combination that informs the record’s soulful core temperature. In 2025, she has plans in motion for her third LP to be released.

She has steadily built her musical career earning acclaim in publications such as Vanity Fair, Vogue, Coveteur, Refinery 29 and The New York Times. Her versatility extends beyond music, with modeling campaigns for Madewell and Banana Republic, and her role as an ambassador for Orange Amplifiers. Schecter has also left her mark as a background vocalist, contributing to recordings for Cage The Elephant and Rayland Baxter.

Schecter's impressive career highlights span everything from opening for The Zombies at SXSW, playing the 2019 NFL Draft and Bonnaroo, to performing at a sold-out show opening for Beck in Nashville while 8 months pregnant. A photo of Katie during this performance was featured in Nashville’s Frist Art Museum for the summer-long exhibit ‘Guitar Town.’ But now, the focus is all on her and her musical creation.
