Ronny Tibbs

BIOGRAPHY

Put on a Ronny Tibbs track and you’ll suddenly feel as though your life’s transformed into a movie and you’ve just found the perfect soundtrack for your next transportive montage. Ronny Tibbs’ music provides an effervescent escapism, an effortlessly propulsive and richly evocative road trip in your mind into a realm where genres blur, nostalgia surges, and eclecticism abounds. It also just rocks–melding the twangy indie vibes of his “Spaghetti Midwestern” style with elements of beach-pop and doo-wop, laced with shimmering guitars, soaring vocals and resplendent pedal steel.

His forthcoming album, Shorthand, sets the tone for his career, characterized by heartfelt lyrics and rich, layered instrumentation.

Tibbs’ music videos for Shorthand, which he writes and directs, weave into a long-form concept record reminiscent of The Who's "Tommy," pushing the boundaries of music and visual storytelling.

Of course, you’d expect a songwriter who also happens to be a filmmaker to have a knack for crafting that subtly-epic and sensory-sparking kind of ballad that feels perfect for any daydreamer’s opening or closing credits sequence.

But music’s been this Midwesterner’s main gig since he was in high school. He even scored his first record deal with Island Records UK at just 19 with his former band, The Satin Peaches. That Detroit-based rock quartet toured extensively, electrifying stages at festivals like Lollapalooza and Leeds. Along with those formative experiences, his more recent partnership with renowned producers like Dave Sardy, Owen Morris, and Ryan Castle has been pivotal, marked by meticulous care and a search for organic nuances.

As he’s looked further inward, his music and film ventures have continued to expand outward. Ronny's music remains his "sacred space," an outlet that allows him to embrace and blend various influences. "I'm the most creative when digging deep into my roots," Tibbs shared. "The idea of blending the old with the new, of finding the soul in every note, drives me."

Ronny Tibbs's artistry is a powerful blend of Midwestern authenticity and innovative creativity, making him a distinctive voice in today's music scene.
