Sam Himself

BIOGRAPHY

"Swiss-born, Gotham-bred" (SPIN) songwriter and performer Sam Himself shares single "Dance With Me" ahead of his third album, "Moonsongs," produced by Daniel Schlett (Iggy Pop, The War on Drugs) and mastered by Greg Calbi (Bruce Springsteen, Iggy Pop) set for release in the spring of 2025.

Recorded at the scenic Outlier Inn Studios in New York’s Catskill Mountains (as frequented by Frank Ocean and Big Thief) “Dance With Me” showcases Sam Himself’s signature baritone voice at its most intimate over a hypnotic synth and acoustic guitar combo that crescendos from stripped-down intro to a climactic finale in just over three minutes, with lyrical nods to Bob Dylan (“Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right”) and David Bowie; the latter’s influence can also be heard in the Robert Fripp-esque lead guitar layers that envelop the final chorus of the song.

"Dance With Me" features backing vocals by Syrian-American artist Boshra AlSaadi (Domino) and bass by Josh Werner (Ghostface Killah, CoCo Rosie).

The two-time Swiss Music Award nominee's music was previously featured on HBO Max's Sex and the City sequel And Just Like That (S2E02), KCRW and KEXP, as well as numerous stations and platforms in Europe and beyond. In support of his most recent effort, Sam toured in Europe, the U.S. and collaborated with the Symphony Orchestra of his native Basel, Switzerland.
