Sarah and The Sundays

BIOGRAPHY

Emotion reduces us to our basest instincts. How we express sensations of love, grief, anger, sadness, or joy essentially shows our true selves. With this in mind, Sarah and the Sundays explore humanity at its most natural on their third full-length album, Like A Damn Dog [Westward Recordings/AWAL]. The Austin, TX quintet—Liam Yorgensen [lead vocals, guitar], Brendan Whyburn [vocals, guitar], Quinn Lane [drums], Miles Reynolds [keyboard, guitar], and Declan Chill [bass]—trace this primal emotional ebb and flow with enigmatic guitar riffs, evocative keys, organic rhythms, and open-hearted lyrical commentary, making a connection at a core level in the process.

In a short time, Sarah and the Sundays have developed an acute musical language rooted in alternative rock and indie and amplified with a keen sense empathy. Their origins extend back to a music class in Connecticut attended by Miles, Declan, and Liam as children. Settling in Austin as adults, they generated buzz with their 2019 full-length debut, So You’re Mad About The Cups. The LP yielded the signature “Moving On,” which gathered over 28.7 million Spotify streams and counting. On its heels, 2021’s The Living End tallied tens of millions of streams fueled by “I’m So Bored,” “Vices,” “Miss Mary,” and more. In the wake of the latter, EUPHORIA. raved, “To say indie-rock band Sarah and the Sundays are one of the best-kept secrets in music right now would be an understatement, and Atwood Magazine hailed the album as “Radiant and soaring. Along the way, Drew Barrymore copped one of their tunes for a TikTok, and they packed houses on tour.
