some fear
BIOGRAPHY
Some Fear is an Oklahoma City collective that captures the vast and quiet atmosphere of the American Great Plains. What started in 2021 as a solo project for songwriter Branden “Bran” Palesano has since grown into a full band and a steady fixture in the U.S. slowcore scene.
The project began with Bran writing alone, using minimalist chords and lo-fi textures—inspired by the archival slowcore of the Numero Group catalog—to process feelings of longing and isolation. As the songs became more complex, he brought in a circle of close collaborators, including drummer and visual artist Ray Morgan. They cut their teeth at The Sanctuary, a local DIY spot that helped them transition from bedroom recordings to a massive live sound that moves between fragile whispers and heavy, instrumental peaks.
Their sophomore offering, Word Eater, marks a step away from their lo-fi roots toward something more polished and intentional. It’s an exploration of the things we leave unsaid: the weight of anxiety in "Stay Home," the resentment in "I Don’t Want to Spend My Money," and the disgust of "99 diner”. Ultimately, Word Eater is about trying to find a little harmony and trust within the beautiful mess of adulthood.
